HOW
DO I...
MAKE
AN APPOINTMENT?
To make an appointment, please telephone 0121 241 1701 between
8.30am and 1.00pm or 2.00 and 6.30pm. The telephone lines are very busy for the
first hour of the morning and therefore if your condition is not urgent, please
ring after 10.00am if possible.
Sometimes it might not be necessary to book an appointment with a doctor. Nowadays the practice nurses are able to deal with many cases. See our guidance notes at Help Us To Help You.
If you cannot keep your appointment,
please let us know. The practice runs a computerised appointment system.
If you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, you will be asked to
book another appointment. It is very important to let the receptionist know when
you arrive for your appointment so that the doctor is aware that you are waiting.
Children under 16 years should be accompanied by an adult. Truly urgent cases,
especially those involving young children, will be seen the same day. Please do not use this unnecessarily.
Take advice from the nurse/doctor or receptionist. HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN
A HOME VISIT?
Home visits are for patients who genuinely cannot attend surgery. If you
feel your illness is severe enough that you do require a visit, please ring the
main surgery line on 0121 241 1700 before 11.00am, giving as
much information as possible including your telephone number. Visits are
at the discretion of the doctor and difficulties with transport are not accepted
as a reason for a visit. We cannot guarantee that visits requested after
11.00am will be carried out the same day. If you consider that the visit is very
urgent, please make this clear to the receptionist.
HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN
TEST RESULTS?
If you have been asked to telephone for results, the best time to do so is
after 11.30am.
HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN TELEPHONE
ADVICE?
A doctor
is usually available to give telephone advice between 12 noon and 12.30pm.
Please
inform the receptionist that you wish to speak to a doctor and she will tell you
when the doctor is likely to be free. Practice nurses are also available for telephone
advice and reception staff will advise you on the most suitable time to call during
the day.
